--------
In this VladTV interview, Vincent Marino reflects on walking free in August 2024 after serving more than 28 years behind bars, entering prison in 1996 and returning to a world transformed by the internet, smartphones, and modern life. Marino describes missing the funerals of close family members, surviving prison through discipline, fitness, legal work, and a positive mindset, and witnessing the toll long sentences can take on inmates.
He also explains how time in the law library led him to help prisoners pursue compassionate release, appeals, sentencing guideline changes, and relief under new case law. Marino discusses Allenwood Medium, Coleman in Florida, the First Step Act of 2018, the Supreme Court’s Taylor decision, Chief Judge Mike Wolf, and cases involving inmates like Burgess and a Charlestown prisoner. He recalls receiving $41 upon release and seeing cash for the first time in decades.
