Part 1: Tommy The Clown on Moving From Detroit to LA & Selling Drugs, Getting Locked Up for 5 Years
--------
Before becoming a cultural icon, Tommy the Clown was working as a typist clerk and facing challenges after a wrongful termination. His journey into clowning began unexpectedly in the mid-1990s when a coworker asked him to perform at her child’s birthday party. Embracing the role, Tommy added his own twist: arriving in a flashy car with booming hip-hop music and breaking out dance moves that captivated the kids. This performance sparked the birth of "clowning," a dance style blending hip-hop and clown theatrics. Tommy took the act to the streets of Los Angeles, driving through neighborhoods and dancing for free, capturing attention and spreading joy.
