On Monday, actor Kaalan Walker was convicted of raping six people and sexually abusing another. The events leading up to Walker's highly publicized conviction included allegations that the "Superfly" actor lied about being associated with Drake in order to gain access to the women that he would go on to take advantage of.
Nevertheless, despite the fact that a Los Angeles County jury found him guilty, the 27-year-old actor maintained his innocence in the courtroom yelling, “I didn’t rape anybody, your honor,” as he was being hauled away. It was a bold proclamation that seemed to fall on deaf ears, especially for fellow celebrity Kehlani, who seemed to take solace in the fact that Walker is facing the possibility of 100 years in prison.
When the 26-year-old R&B singer from Oakland learned of Walker's verdict, she took to social media to share her thoughts on the matter. Not only did she condemn the media outlets who remained neutral during the case, but she also chalked up the results as a victory for women everywhere.
"I did not forget who torn down victims of sexual assault when this came out," Kehlani said. "I did not forget what bloggers and what blogs and what platforms felt like they had to play neutral and give a rapist a platform for the sake of clicks and views when this came out...I hope all of ya'll...eat your f**king words. This man is going to jail for the rest of his life. Guilty as hell and it's crazy that it took this...it took this, for ya'll to believe it because it should have been believed when this s**t came out. But I hope you feel like sh**t...and God bless these girls and thank God that they are getting some form of peace that they have not been able to get through this entire f**king process. That's all I have to say."
Kehlani's emotional words may very well go a long way in terms of amplifying the voices of Walker's victims. Immediately following the verdict, a victim named Sydney Stanford also took to social media to share her thoughts and to thank Kehlani for speaking up on her behalf.
"You guys called me a clout chaser...a liar AND BEYOND AND MORE IMPORTANTLY..., invalidated so many women stories," Stanford wrote. "CALLING THEM LIARS AND CLOUT CHASER. KAALAN WALKER WAS FOUND GUILTY OF 7 (possibly more) COUNTS OF RAPE...SUCK MY D*** FORREAL AND GO DROP SOME COINS IN THESE WOMENS ACCOUNTS. All those stupid a** blogs who ripped these women apart, who used my involvement as an ally & your disliking of me to SPEW HOT S**T TOWARDS VICTIMS OF RAPE...GO LOOK AT URSELF IN THE MIRROR. YOU BLOGGERS KNOW WHO THE F*** I'M TALKING TO!!!! JUSTICE!!!!!!"
Kaalan Walker is due back in court on May 27th. Scroll up to view more social media posts from Sydney Stanford, regarding this matter.
