Should it come as a surprise or nah - the fact that a female currently holds the record for woman artist with highest first-week album streams? Nah, for that woman is Cardi B. In one week, she has broken an Apple Music record with her debut album being streamed over 100 million times, reports The Verge.

Some argue that Cardi B. can't properly rap, that she's not a real singer, but regardless, what pleases me most is that she broke a record for first-week streams by a woman artist on the service which was previously held by Taylor Swift. And it wasn't an ordinary win - Invasion of Privacy doubled the previous streaming record set by Swift’s Reputation in 2017

Invasion of Privacy is now the fifth most-streamed album EVER on Apple Music. As reported by me last week, the album went gold immediately after its release on April 6. Whether or not it was due to a super track, "Bodak Yellow" is a secondary issue. Both the album and the track in question are killer.

Since the release of her album, Cardi has not sat on her laurels. She appeared on SNL (where she announced she was pregnant) and even co-hosted the Tonight Show.
