Part 12: Medellin Cartel Co-founder Carlos Lehder on Being Released from Prison After 33 Years
Part 1: Medellin Cartel Co-Founder Carlos Lehder on Meeting Boston George in Prison
--------
In this VladTV interview, former Medellín Cartel co-founder Carlos Lehder reflects on freedom after 33 years in U.S. prison and explains how a life that once generated vast drug money ended with no property, no fortune, and book sales as his only income. Lehder discusses returning to Colombia after time in Germany, life in Medellín today, and his book *Vida y muerte del cartel de Medellín*, now translated into English.
He also addresses Boston George (George Jung), Pablo Escobar’s legacy, El Chapo’s life-plus-30-year sentence in U.S. federal court, extradition, Florence, Colorado, and why he believes the narco era is collapsing under modern law enforcement technology. From the Ukraine-Russia war to Colombia’s new political direction, Lehder offers a rare firsthand perspective on crime, punishment, and the cost of chasing power through drug trafficking.
