Part 1: Medellin Cartel Co-Founder Carlos Lehder on Meeting Boston George in Prison
--------
Carlos Lehder, co-founder of the Medellín Cartel, reflects with Vlad on walking free in June 2020 at age 70 after more than 33 years in U.S. federal prison. Lehder says his release was approved by Attorney General William Barr during the Trump administration, noting Barr had also been connected to his earlier cooperation with U.S. authorities.
Now living in Germany, Lehder describes the shock of modern life—from smartphones to supermarkets—and the lingering “prisoner complex” after decades behind bars. He discusses rehabilitation, writing his book, and his message to younger generations about avoiding illegal narcotics, cocaine trafficking, and the drug trade. Lehder also shares his views on the DEA, FBI, Justice Department, global law enforcement technology, and controversial ideas for reducing drug consumption in America.
A rare firsthand account of prison, freedom, and life after the drug war.
