Part 5: Cody Alford on Homosexuality in Afghanistan: "Boys are for Pleasure, Girls are for Babies"
Part 1: Marine Cody Alford on Getting Shot in the Head on 1st Day of Battle of Fallujah

--------

Former Marine Cody Alford sits down with Vlad to discuss leaving the military after 15 years and seven months, the toll of traumatic brain injuries, and the mental health crisis he faced after the 2006 Still Curtain deployment and the death of his friend Jon Longoria. Alford opens up about seeking help at a Naval Hospital in Oceanside, California, the stigma around suicide prevention in elite units like Force Reconnaissance, and how medication impacted his performance.

He also explains how, before retirement, he pursued experimental brain treatment in Tampa, Florida, then sold his belongings with his wife, built out a Dodge ProMaster van, and traveled the United States with no set plan. Alford reflects on starting a YouTube channel, losing identity after service, therapy, psychedelics, DD214 transition struggles, leadership, war, and helping veterans ask for support without fear.
