Part 8: Dale Comstock Agrees with Elon Musk: War is Old Men Sending Young Men to Kill Each Other
Part 1: Delta Force's Dale Comstock: I Hypnotized Myself at 15 Years Old to Be Better, and It Works
--------
Retired Delta Force operator Dale Comstock sits down with Vlad to recount the Afghanistan mission that convinced him to end his combat deployments. Moving at night with a 26-vehicle convoy through a Taliban-controlled seven-kilometer stretch, Comstock describes hearing enemy radio traffic as fighters set up IEDs, probing fire, and ambush positions around his team. With wounded to evacuate, an AH-64 Apache helicopter providing emergency close air support, and Taliban fighters adapting their tactics, the convoy was forced to drive directly through the kill zone under heavy suppression fire. Comstock recalls thinking of his wife and three children, deciding that if he survived, he would “hang the guns up.” He also explains how relentless gunfire may have prevented an IED trigger man from detonating charges. A gripping firsthand account of Afghanistan, special operations, convoy warfare, and the human cost of repeated deployments.
