Part 1: Delta Force's Dale Comstock: I Hypnotized Myself at 15 Years Old to Be Better, and It Works
--------
Former Delta Force operator Dale Comstock sits down with Vlad to discuss life after retiring from the military in 2001 at age 38 and spending the next decade as a paramilitary contractor in Afghanistan, Iran, and other conflict zones. Comstock details the dangers of operating with small teams, recruiting and leading indigenous fighters, Taliban infiltration, ambush risks, and the loss of fellow Delta operators during the Global War on Terrorism. He also explains how political restrictions around detentions and interrogations changed the mission on the ground, arguing that bureaucracy put American lives at risk.
Reflecting on war, Comstock agrees with Elon Musk’s widely shared view that wars are often driven by older leaders sending young men to kill one another. He offers a critical but personal perspective on the military, politicians, civilians, and the realities faced by soldiers and contractors in modern warfare.
