In a recent interview, Hunter Biden reflected on the historic moment when Barack Obama selected Joe Biden as his 2008 running mate. Hunter said he only knew a few hours before the public announcement, explaining that campaigns often wait to avoid leaks.
Hunter described the choice as “the most amazing thing in the world,” calling Obama a “once in a lifetime” generational inspiration. He recalled watching Obama’s 2004 Democratic National Convention speech and telling his father that Obama could someday become president.
When Obama won the election, making Joe Biden vice president, Hunter said he was less focused on whether his father might later become president and more overwhelmed by the significance of the moment. He called Obama’s victory an affirmation of what America could be.
Hunter also said he shut down his lobbying firm voluntarily during the campaign and later adjusted to life under increased scrutiny and Secret Service protection.
