With little time to decompress, soldiers often turn to excessive drinking to cope—sometimes starting as early as age 19. Irving shared alarming stories from his time in the Rangers, including a notorious bank robbery by active soldiers and how alcohol-related incidents frequently led to severe consequences or discharge.
