In a recent interview, Skip Bayless expressed his disapproval of LeBron James’ confrontation with Stephen A. Smith regarding comments about James’ son, Bronny. Bayless, who has a longstanding relationship with Smith, described LeBron’s approach as a “blindside” during a dead ball in a game, leaving no room for Smith to respond. Bayless, not a LeBron fan, called the move “weak” and felt it was unfair, especially since Bronny is now a professional Laker and subject to public scrutiny.
Bayless also shared his honest assessment of Bronny’s basketball skills, noting that despite flashes of potential in the G League, Bronny has yet to demonstrate consistent pro-level impact, particularly on defense and shooting. He added that Bronny’s lineage brings immense pressure, but he hasn't seen enough to believe Bronny would make the NBA solely on merit without his father’s influence. Bayless stands by Smith’s right to critique Bronny’s performance openly.
