In a recent interview, Skip Bayless addressed the infamous moment when he told co-host Shannon Sharpe to "put your glasses back on" during their time together on *Undisputed*. Bayless dismissed claims that the comment had racial undertones, emphasizing their long-standing professional relationship and mutual respect. “I’ve always worked with Black partners,” he said, underscoring that their on-air competitiveness stemmed from passion and pride in their sports opinions, not race.
Bayless also revealed that despite their daily disagreements, they maintained a highly functional work dynamic, though they were not close social friends. Reflecting on Sharpe’s June 2023 departure, Bayless said Sharpe approached him to try and continue their collaboration, but the network had already decided otherwise. Bayless expressed disappointment, noting he fought to keep the team together but ultimately had to respect the decision.
The duo’s heated exchanges, including the glasses comment, were part of the show’s appeal, fueled by competitive spirits rather than personal animosity, Bayless explained.
