In a chilling interview, Javier “Panama” Card recounted one of the most violent moments during his incarceration—a brutal knife fight with his own cellmate. Card described how rising tensions in the housing unit, fueled by street conflicts involving rival groups, escalated when other inmates coerced his cellmate to attack him. During a tense cell lockdown, Card noticed his cellmate behaving suspiciously with a concealed weapon. Reacting quickly, Card grabbed his own shank from under the mattress, and the two engaged in a vicious stabbing melee witnessed by other inmates and guards.
Card revealed he suffered multiple stab wounds, including a particularly severe gash on his forehead requiring stitches. Despite the severity, he survived, though he described the bloodshed as intense and believed it could have been fatal. The episode highlights the brutal realities of prison life and how even close quarters can become battlegrounds.
