Part 6: George Christie on Outlaws Leader Taco Bowman Sending 2 Hit Squads to Kill Him
Part 1: George Christie on Differences Between Hells Angels & Italian Mafia

--------

On April 26, 2002, the annual River Run motorcycle rally in Laughlin, Nevada, erupted into a violent clash between rival biker gangs—the Hells Angels and the Mongols—leaving three dead and dozens injured. Though George Christie, former Hells Angels leader, was on high-intensity probation and not directly involved, he knew many participants and later helped coordinate their legal defense.

The brutal fight started when six Hells Angels remained inside a casino despite an unofficial agreement, leading to a confrontation with about 100 Mongols. The melee escalated quickly with firearms and weapons, creating a chaotic scene marked by blood trails throughout the casino. Three people died in the riot—two Hells Angels and one Mongol—and dozens of weapons were recovered from the scene.

Christie suggests a police officer’s warning to the Hells Angels about being surrounded may have instigated the violence. Ultimately, only a handful of participants were briefly detained, with most charges dismissed. The incident marked the first multiple homicide inside a Nevada casino, highlighting ongoing gang tensions despite unofficial truces.
