Sammy “The Bull” Gravano reflected on how the flashy lifestyles of crime figures like John Gotti and Black Mafia Family (BMF) leader Big Meech contributed to their eventual arrests. Sammy explained that before Gotti, tradition discouraged overt flashiness among made men to avoid law enforcement scrutiny. However, Gotti threw those rules out, embracing public attention with his flamboyant style, confident the “public loves me” attitude would shield him. Sammy warned him repeatedly that such openness painted a bullseye on their backs, increasing pressure from law enforcement and media—but Gotti ignored the advice. Similarly, Big Meech’s BMF openly flaunted wealth with Ferraris, expensive clubs, and billboards, a blatant display that attracted law enforcement's focus. Sammy highlighted that this modern flashiness, although appealing, ultimately accelerated their downfall by breaking old Mafia codes of secrecy and discretion.
