Reports surfaced noting that Carlee Russell will be pleading guilty to charges related to faking her abduction.
Russell is set to appear at the Jefferson County Courthouse in Alabama on March 21. Russell was supposed to head to trial on March 18, 2024. As of now, Carlee Russell is facing multiple Class A misdemeanors, including one count of false reporting to law enforcement and one count of falsely reporting an incident. On Wednesday, Municipal Judge Brad Bishop determined that Carlee Russell (26) was guilty of orchestrating a kidnapping hoax that painted herself as the victim of an incident that occurred along Interstate 459 in Hoover, Alabama, during a 9-1-1- call in July. Therefore, Russell has been charged with false reporting to law enforcement and unlawfully reporting an incident.
The state is aiming for a six-month sentence for each charge, along with $17,974.88 in restitution and a fine of $831. Russell and her legal team will reportedly appeal the case in circuit court.
