On Wednesday, Municipal Judge Brad Bishop determined that Carlee Russell (26) was guilty of orchestrating a kidnapping hoax that painted herself as the victim of an incident that occurred along Interstate 459 in Hoover, Alabama, during a 9-1-1- call in July. Therefore, Russell has been charged with false reporting to law enforcement and unlawfully reporting an incident.
The state is aiming for a six-month sentence for each charge, along with $17,974.88 in restitution and a fine of $831. Russell and her legal team will reportedly appeal the case in circuit court.
