According to reports, a grand jury in New York indicted Isaiah “Lil Zay Osama” Dukes on charges of possessing a machine gun and an unregistered firearm. If found guilty, he could potentially be sentenced to a maximum of 20 years in prison.

The arrest took place in 2022 after the Chicago-born rapper allegedly left a loaded Glock pistol with a switch in a rideshare vehicle during a trip from Manhattan to Queens.

NYPD Commissioner Edward Caban spoke on the indictment, saying Lil Zay Osama’s “indictment is a stark reminder that loaded, illegal firearms – sometimes modified to maximize their deadly potential, as alleged in this case – continue to be brought into and carried throughout New York City. Let me be clear: This behavior will not be tolerated here, and the NYPD vows to keep our streets safe from guns and anyone who unlawfully possesses them.” Lil Zay Osama is currently in custody in Illinois after being arrested in December 2023 after a police chase.
