The arrival of Coach Prime at the University of Colorado has turned Folsom Field into an epicenter for celebrities such as The Rock, Lil Wayne, and Shannon Sharpe. It has also attracted an onslaught of media attention from network powerhouses like ESPN and FS1. With the flashy bravado of their world-famous head coach, Deion Sanders, the Colorado Buffaloes jumped out to a 2-0 start, earning a spot among the AP Top 25. The team's early success thrust their star quarterback, Shedeur Sanders, into the Heisman Trophy race for the first time in his Collegiate career with the likes of Caleb Williams (USC Trojans), Marvin Harrision Jr. (Ohio State Buckeyes), Quinn Ewers (Texas Longhorns) and Bo Nix (Oregon Ducks). However, along with the national acclaim and fanfare has come a fair share of criticism and resentment from rival coaches.
Last month, Keyshawn Johnson of Undisputed on FS1 revealed that coaches were exchanging information in hopes of giving each other a strategic advantage in games against Coach Prime's Buffaloes. Now, it appears that rival coaches are focusing on Coach Prime's son, Shedeur. According to reports, an anonymous Pac-12 coach recently accused Sheduer Sanders, the second-ranked passer in Division I College Football, of protecting his numbers.
“I think they want to rack up some stats for Shedeur," said the unidentified Pac-12 coach. "He really holds on to the ball for a long time. I think he takes sacks because he doesn’t want to affect his completion percentage.”
Thus far, Shedeur Sanders has thrown 15 touchdown passes this season and just two interceptions. His completion percentage (74.8) is slightly higher than Caleb Williams' (74.5). On Saturday, the 6'2" junior will lead his team to Mountain America Stadium in Tempe, Arizona, to take on the ASU Sun Devils.
