Update 10/06/2023 4:23pm:
In 2017, a young woman named Kenneka Jenkins was discovered in a hotel’s walk-in freezer in the Rosemont section of Chicago. The 19-year-old reportedly died of hypothermia while at a party at the hotel.
Footage of Jenkins moments before her death showed her walking around the hotel and walking near the kitchen where her body would be found in the freezer. Now, the mother of Jenkins has reportedly settled a lawsuit related to her daughter's death.
Jenkins’ mother sued the hotel, their security company, and the restaurant that leased the space where her daughter was found dead. The suit alleges negligence on the groups mentioned, saying they failed to secure the walk-in freezer where Jenkins died. The lawsuit also claims a proper search wasn’t conducted when her daughter was reported missing.
The terms of the lawsuit were kept confidential and sealed from the public eye, according to reports.

Rosemont police released crime scene photos of Kenneka Jenkins' body after closing the case last Friday, and her family is raising questions after seeing the images. The images were released along with hundreds of other documents, 911 calls, and video surveillance after police closed the case.
Kenneka's family is raising questions after seeing the photos, which show the 19-year-old lying down in the freezer with one shoe flung off and a cut on her foot. A police report says Kenneka was found lying on her side, face down with her left arm underneath her. The shirt under her jacket “was pulled up exposing her breasts,” which scientists said could be a phenomenon of hypothermia known as “paradoxical undressing.” Scientists explain that in some cases, people freezing to death remove their clothing as "the last effort of the victim and is followed almost immediately by unconsciousness and death.”
Larry Rogers Jr., an attorney for Jenkins' family, told the Chicago Tribune, “Frankly, the photos depicting how Kenneka was found raise more questions about what happened to Kenneka Jenkins than they answer.”
Video surveillance showed Jenkins moments before her death, walking around the hotel hallways and in the kitchen where the freezer her body was found in was located.
