Although the highly anticipated matchup between Canelo Álvarez (60-2) and Jermell Charlo (35-2)was a one-sided affair that saw the Undisputed Super middleweight champion retain his title, the athletes outside the ring provided fight fans with a few viral moments that were slightly more entertaining than the main event.
For example, Jermell's twin, Jermall, and Caleb Plant (22-2) both arrived at the same security checkpoint of T-Mobile Arena at the exact same time, before the fight. After the fight was over, former Golden State Warriors shooting guard Stephen Jackson got into a verbal exchange with security and members of Canelo Álvarez's family as they were trying to exit the venue. Interestingly enough, Jackson was a strong supporter of Jermell Charlo heading into the fight against Canelo. He even posted locker room footage of Jermell before the main event occurred.
Although some fans accused Stephen Jackson of unnecessarily stirring the pot while also pointing out his previous track record for altercations, others supported his actions once they heard his explanation about not wanting to wait for 70 members of Canelo's family to pass him by before he was allowed to exit.
