It's been nearly one week since Terence "Bud" Crawford (40-0) defeated Errol Spence Jr. in a one-sided affair that resulted in him becoming a two-division undisputed champion. Crawford dominated the long-awaited with Spence Jr. in such a manner that sports commentators from DAZN and FS1 declared he is currently a better fighter than "Pretty Boy" Floyd Mayweather in his prime. Shortly after "Crawford vs. Spence Jr.," Floyd Mayweather lauded Crawford as the top fighter in boxing. However, one man who remains unimpressed is Jermell Charlo (37-1), the undisputed light middleweight champion who has a fight with Canelo Álvarez (39-2) coming up on September 30th.
Footage recently surfaced of Jermell and Bud jawing back and forth at one another while the latter was engaged in a bout with Spence Jr. Bud reportedly yelled out "You're next," to Jermell while standing in the ring. The trash-talking didn't deter Bud from notching his ninth knockout victory in a row, but it did ignite several "what-ifs" amongst boxing fans about the possibility of Bud (147 lbs) and Jermell (168 lbs) fighting at 154 pounds.
The following week, Bud called out Jermell again during an interview with Hot 97 after explaining why he "doesn't care for him." On Monday, Jermell responded to being called out by Bud with a post on Instagram, declaring his intentions to fight the two-division undisputed champ after his bout with Canelo.
“Bout to shock the world (168)," Jermell wrote. Then I’m coming back to hold my throne down (154). I’m the king. Nothing will stop me. Mega fights here on out. After my boy rematch we can give the people what they want and make the @budcrawford happen!”
Bud's next fight is expected to happen in December. Some opponents being mentioned are Tim Tszyu (23-0) and Gervonta "Tank" Davis (29-0).
