About two weeks after stopping Ryan Garcia (23-1) in the seventh round of their crucial lightweight boxing showdown, Gervonta "Tank" Davis (29-0) boasted that he was the new face of professional boxing. Although the proclamation was quickly shot down by the undisputed Middleweight champion of professional boxing, Canelo Álvarez (39-2), the fact of the matter remains: Tank Davis has knocked out 27 of his 29 opponents, making his knockout percentage the second-highest in the entire sport. Unlike Álvarez, Tank Davis is yet to have headlined a live event that cracked boxing's top-ten most viewed fights of the last decade (according to PPV buys). But his super fight with Ryan Garcia, back on April 22nd, came close, garnering 1.2 million PPV buys.

Tank Davis is quickly becoming a household name in the mainstream. However, the Southpaw from Baltimore still has some work to do in a lightweight division where Devin Haney (30-0) currently reigns supreme as the undisputed champion. But the contention doesn't end there because just outside the top three spots in the highly competitive division lies a New Jersey native ready to make his mark named Shakur Stevenson (20-0). The 25-year-old showed his eagerness last weekend when he hopped in the ring following Devin Haney's controversial victory over Vasiliy Lomachenko (17-3) and taunted the champ by indicating that he planned on ending his reign soon. Therefore, with multiple big names vying for the top spot in the lightweight division, Tank Davis' coaches, Kenny Ellis, and Calvin Ford, recently decided to take matters into their own hands by simply flipping a coin on social media to determine which title contender would be their fighter's next opponent.

"No disrespect, [but there's] only three kings left in the lightweight division," Kenny Ellis said. "You got Gervonta Davis; you got Shakur Stevenson and Devin Haney. And the fans want to see Tank and one of them so, [I'm going to] flip a coin."

"Heads Devin, Tails Shakur," added Calvin Ford as he chimed in from the background.

Although the coin landed on tails, several intricacies must be ironed out between Tank Davis' promoters at The Mayweather Group and Shakur's promoters (James Prince and Andre Ward) before this dream bout could ever become a reality.
