Over the years, producer Pete Rock has been very vocal about the changes that are taking place in hip-hop. The producer’s credits include Nas, Run-DMC, Notorious B.I.G., Jay-Z, Kanye West, and more. At one point, Pete Rock had issues with Young Dolph before his passing, referring to the late rapper as “trash.” Rock later revealed they were able to squash their issues before his death. Since then, the producer has commented on many topics, including production in the current music landscape and producers’ sample choices.

Via Twitter, Pete Rock said, “They are resampling rap and r&b records that was made only 3-4 years ago 😂😂😂😂 no diggin’ for the hits they sampling what was already a hit recently lol 🤷🏽‍♂️.” This isn’t the first time Rock spoke on newer material in the rap world, as he called out Drill music last year, saying it “disrupts the soul.” Take a look above.
