Since being drafted number two overall, behind Zion Williamson, in the 2019 NBA Draft, Ja Morant has lifted the Memphis Grizzlies franchise to new heights. Gone are the grit and grind days of Zach Randolph, Marc Gasol, and Mike Conley. Unlike the blue-collar Grizzlies teams of the 2010s, the current iteration features a bonafide superstar and perineal MVP candidate in Ja Morant. But this 23-year-old is not the only Morant making headlines in Tennessee. His little sister, Niya, entered her senior year at Houston High School in Germantown during the month of November. She's a floor general like her older sibling, but her dazzling skillset is vastly different. Niya is averaging 12.5 points per contest to go along with 4.6 rebounds and nearly two steals this year. The 5-3 hooper recently went viral with a highlight reel where she could be seen donning the new Nike Ja 1 sneakers.

Last month, Mississippi Valley State became the first Division I college to present Niya with a scholarship offer. For the Morant family, the HBCU community carries a traditional sentiment that links two generations. Niya's father, Tee, played ball at Claflin University, and her brother received recruitment pitches from HBCUs when he was her age.

Niya Morant grew up playing basketball with her older in their backyard. Now, she's looking to emerge from his shadow by forging her own path in the game of basketball. Scroll up to take a look at what the 18-year-old has been up to lately.
