Update 02/05/2023 10:23am:

In January, it was reported that Kanye West was laying low following a series of public comments that found him facing much backlash. Following his remarks, many companies began to make the shift to drop the artist from deals they had with him. The rapper’s lawyers even published ads in a newspaper for a withdrawal order, with the lawyers looking to drop the rapper as their client. Now, reports noted the rapper had been served by the law firm looking to drop him as their client.

According to AllHipHop, Kanye West was reportedly served papers by Greenberg Traurig LLP, his former attorneys who are based out of New York. The news was confirmed by a new lawyer for West, who said the rapper received the paperwork to end his former law firm’s relationship with him on February 1, 2023.

An attorney for Greenberg Traurig named Nina Boyajian went on to write:

On January 18, 2023, an attorney based in California contacted my firm advising that he would be representing ‘Ye on some of his legal matters. During the course of several emails and a phone call with this attorney, I requested that he coordinate personal service of the Order on Ye. On February 1, 2023, the attorney referenced above emailed me the executed Certificate of Service attached hereto as Exhibit A. I declare under penalty of perjury under the laws of the United States of America that the foregoing is true and correct.”

Last November, Greenberg Traurig was allowed to withdraw as Ye’s counsel after filing a motion again that was previously denied. Stay tuned for more updates.

Kanye West has been laying low from the public eye since making comments in 2022 that found him facing backlash from many groups. From anti-semitic comments to remarks about Rosa Parks, West seemingly offended many. Since then, West has been dropped by numerous companies he had deals with, and now his latest legal team is looking to drop him.

Court documents that surfaced noted that lawyers from Greenberg Traurig Law haven’t been able to find West, and now they are looking to publish ads for a withdrawal order in two Los Angeles newspapers. The document said, “Publication of the Withdrawal Order’s contents in two Los Angeles-area newspapers, where Ye appears to reside, will also apprise him of the Withdrawal Order.” The “multi-prong approach” from the law firm “will likely garner significant media attention, resulting in broader publication and provide an even greater likelihood of apprising Ye of the Order.”

News of this comes after it was revealed that West married Yeezy designer Bianca Censori in a private wedding ceremony. Stay tuned for more updates.
