Although he appeared in cult-classic films such as Do The Right Thing and The Unusual Suspects, Giancarlo Esposito wasn't truly introduced to the world until his breakout role in Breaking Bad. Bryan Cranston and Aaron Paul may have been the stars of the show, but Giancarlo's portrayal of a druglord for a Mexican Cartel masquerading as the owner of a fast-food restaurant called "Los Pollos Hermanos," endeared him to fans all over the world, making him a household name at the age of 50. Since then, Giancarlo's career has skyrocketed, landing him co-starring roles on hit shows like Revolution, King of Harlem, Better Call Saul, The Boys, The Mandolorian, and Kaleidoscope. He has carved a niche for himself by playing rememberable villians. Now, it appears that the award-winning actor may want to succeed legendary actor Patrick Stewart as the new Professor X in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. According to the comic books, there are numerous versions of Professor X in the multiverse. So, from a logistical standpoint, thrusting a new Professor X into the mix could actually work.

In a recent appearance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, Giancarlo acknowledged the recent fan-led campaign to insert him into the MCU, and he somewhat pitched himself on the spot.

"I love what Marvel does," Giancarlo said. "I love that the fans can see me in this universe and are proposing not only one charter, possibly Magneto, possibly Freeze, and the biggest ask is Charles Xavier...Look, I wanna play a good guy, and Charles Xavier is smart, he’s good. But I feel as if there may be some mileage with me and Marvel. I know I love what they do. I know I love creativity. So who knows what could happen? Keep putting it out there.”

There is still plenty of time for fans to get their wish because Marvel isn't expected to reboot X-Men until sometime during Phase 6 (November 2024) or Phase 7 (sometime between the year 2026 and 2028).
