Gucci Mane and Jeezy participated in one of the most anticipated and viewed Verzuz battles in November 2020. Many Hip Hop fans were overjoyed to see two of Atlanta's most impactful rappers share the stage, especially considering their past feud. While the Verzuz was entertaining and had many highlights, fans were reminded of how deadly their rivalry once was when Gucci Mane performed an old diss track and taunted the death of Jeezy's late friend, Pookie Loc.

In 2005, Gucci Mane allegedly killed Pookie in self-defense during a home invasion. Guwop taunted Jeezy over the death in the 2012 diss track, "Truth."

"Go dig your partner up, n****, bet he can’t say s***," Gucci rapped on the track.

In addition to performing the record, Gucci Mane further taunted Jeezy by saying he was "smoking on Pookie Loc tonight," which led to a tense exchange between the two rap legends.

This past Sunday, Gucci Mane participated in a REVOLT Summit with Rap Radar's Elliott Wilson and Brian "B. Dot" Miller, where he expressed regret over his decision to revive the subject during an otherwise celebratory affair.

"I didn't know when I got on the stage, that was gonna happen. [That] I was gonna say that," he said. "I ain't like, 'I'm bringing negative energy.' It just really came out...I don't even like to perform that song. When I left, I was like, 'Damn. I wish I wouldn't have said what I said.'"

During the panel discussion, Gucci Mane also expressed his belief that the Verzuz brought closure to his feud with Jeezy. This past July, Gucci Mane called on rappers to stop dissing the dead.
