Earlier this year, Ludacris’ manager Chaka Zulu reportedly shot back in self-defense during a fatal shooting that went down outside a restaurant in the Buckhead section of Atlanta. During the exchange with another man caught on camera, things got heated, and a man shot Chaka. The manager fired off a shot in return.

Chaka (real name—Ahmed Obafemi) was injured badly in the shooting that went down in a parking lot. Chaka’s lawyer, Gabe Banks, said he acted in self-defense, firing a weapon he has a license to carry following the person attacking him. “It is not lost on Mr. Zulu that someone lost his life, but had Mr. Zulu not lawfully defended himself, Mr. Zulu would have been killed that night,” said the lawyer.

The shooting reportedly killed a 23-year-old named Artez Benton. This past Tuesday, Chaka Zulu turned himself into the police and was booked into the Fulton County jail. He was charged with possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony, simple battery, aggravated assault, and murder. Ludacris’ manager was released the same day on a $200,000 bond.
