According to reports, one of the largest migrant caravans in recent history is slowly making its way through Mexico to the United States. The traveling convoy is said to have begun somewhere near the southern city of Tapachula and it includes various groups of people from countries all over the world, such as Guatemala, Nicaragua, Haiti, India, and Africa. Many of the people in the convoy are trying to escape poverty, famine, and corruption in their native countries. The migrant caravan is being led by an organizer from the Center for Human Dignification named Luis Villagran.

In the past, former U.S. President Donald Trump and current U.S. President Joe Biden have encouraged government officials in Mexico to take a more active role in their efforts to impede mass migration from Mexico to their neighboring country up north, but to no avail. In three days, President Biden is expected to sign a declaration that will directly address ways to manage migration from Central America to the U.S. This diplomatic approach comes on the heels of Mexico's recent attempt to persuade traveling migrants to remain in Mexico rather than journeying up North into U.S. territory and Guatemala's aggressive attempt to break up a traveling caravan of migrants, by force, with riot gear.

The most recent traveling caravan has an estimated amount of 15,000 people.  Their goal is to reach the U.S. for more sustainable living conditions but they are traveling on foot and they remain hundreds of miles away from their destination.
