Megan Thee Stallion has been in the news recently following her interview with Gayle King, where she spoke candidly about the alleged Tory Lanez shooting. Since then, Meg has been seen in a more positive space, as the artist was given the key to the city of Houston, as well as her own day.

Via Instagram, Megan spoke on the honor, saying, “Came home real quick to get THEE KEY TO THEE CITY 🤘🏾 and in honor of my mother and grandmother’s birthday MAY 2ND is officially MEGAN THEE STALLION DAY IN HOUSTON TX🔥🔥🔥.”

During a ceremony for the self-proclaimed “Hot Girl,” Mayor Sylvester Turner gave Meg the key to the city. Houston city leaders were present as Turner also declared May 2 as ‘Megan Thee Stallion Day’ in the town.

News of this comes after Megan previously launched an effort in Hotties Helping Houston, which helped residents after a major winter storm hit the area and caused massive power outages. Along with that, the rapper received the Congressional District Humanitarian Award. Take a look at the ceremony above.
