Update 04/07/2022 9:14am:
Hip-Hop pioneer The Kidd Creole of Grandmaster Flash and the Furious Five was convicted of fatally stabbing a homeless man in 2017. On Wednesday (April 6), Manhattan D.A. Alvin L. Bragg Jr. announced that Kidd Creole was found guilty of first-degree manslaughter.
During his trial, prosecutors argued that The Kidd Creole walked past a homeless man, and the two got into a verbal altercation. During the argument, The Kidd Creole reportedly stabbed the homeless man twice with a steak knife and fled the scene. A group of tourists discovered the homeless man's body and got him medical help. However, the man later died from his injuries.
Prosecutors argued that after The Kidd Creole fled the scene, he went to his office, where he changed his clothes and cleaned the knife. He then reportedly threw the knife in a sewer near a Bronx subway station, which was later recovered by NYPD officers. The officers then linked the murder weapon to The Kidd Creole, who was later arrested for the incident.
The Kidd Creole will be sentenced on May 4.

The hip-hop pioneer was reportedly on his way to his security job around midnight on August 1, 2017, when he was approached by a man named John Jolly approached him and said “what’s up?” Creole’s lawyer—Scottie Celestin spoke to the jury and said “Ladies and gentlemen, this is New York City. It’s 12 o’clock at night. Who’s saying ‘What’s up?’ to you with good intentions? His fear for his life was reasonable.” Along with that, Creole’s lawyer argued that Jolly didn’t pass away from stab wounds, but rather he passed away from a dose of a sedative called benzodiazepine given to him at the hospital.
