In 2017, legendary hip-hop pioneer Kidd Creole of Grandmaster Flash and the Furious Five was arrested for the murder of a homeless man. Kidd Creole, whose real name is Nathaniel Glover, was taken into custody by NYPD after allegedly giving a man multiple stab wounds to the chest. Now, news surfaced noting the murder trial for Glover is now underway.
Glover’s trial started this past Friday, and the pioneer is claiming self-defense in the matter. The hip-hop pioneer was reportedly on his way to his security job around midnight on August 1, 2017, when he was approached by a man named John Jolly approached him and said “what’s up?” Creole’s lawyer—Scottie Celestin spoke to the jury and said “Ladies and gentlemen, this is New York City. It’s 12 o’clock at night. Who’s saying ‘What’s up?’ to you with good intentions? His fear for his life was reasonable.” Along with that, Creole’s lawyer argued that Jolly didn’t pass away from stab wounds, but rather he passed away from a dose of a sedative called benzodiazepine given to him at the hospital. Stay tuned for more updates.

Grandmaster Flash and the Furious Five rapper Kidd Creole has been arrested and charged with murder in connection with the stabbing of a homeless man in midtown Manhattan on Tuesday night, August 1.
It is reported that Creole, born Nathaniel Glover, was apprehended by NYPD on Wednesday, less than 24-hours after a group of tourists discovered that the victim, who they initially suspected had fainted over heat stroke, was bleeding from multiple stab wounds to the chest. He'd be rushed to Bellevue Hospital where he died a short time later, and before long video surveillance taken from the E. 44th Street and Third Avenue location of the stabbing lead to police identifying the 57-year-old pioneer, who was actually working as a security guard blocks away from the scene.
Police report that Creole has provided a statement on the killing, but haven't gone into detail on what he has said. The incident is reported to have sparked from an exchange of words that became personal before escalating into violence.
