Lil Baby learned a lesson in purchasing jewelry when he found out his $400,000 Patek Phillipe watch was fake. French Montana recently described a moment to DJ Akademiks where he found out he had a fake watch.
French Montana revealed Akon gifted him a Hublot watch. Known for his iced-out jewelry, the rapper recalled taking the watch to his jeweler so he could have the Hublot decked out in diamonds. However, Montana's jeweler thought he was trying to trick him before explaining to his client that the watch wasn't authentic.
"[Akon] had gave me a Hublot," Montana told Akademiks. "So it wasn't iced out and you know I like s*** with diamonds on it, so I just took it to my jeweler. I was like, 'Yo, can you switch this for me? Akon gave it to me for my birthday.' He looked at me like, 'What you mean? Akon did not give you this, my guy.' My jeweler looking at me like, 'You trying to get me?' I'm like, 'Na, swear to God.' So I'm like it's either my jeweler playing with me or Akon made a mistake. So I just called him -- shout out to Akon by the way, it's my guy. I'm still waiting for the real one."
French Montana explained that when he called Akon about the discovery, the "Smack That" singer seemed shocked to hear the Hublot wasn't real. Montana said Akon got off the phone with him to contact his jeweler because he purchased several other jewelry items. However, French Montana claims Akon never called him back.
