Philadelphia 76ers guard and forward Ben Simmons has been suspended for one game after he was thrown out of practice Tuesday by head coach Doc Rivers.

According to ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski, Simmons was suspended for conduct detrimental to the team shortly after he was dismissed from practice. He will miss the Sixers' season opener against the New Orleans Pelicans on Wednesday, Oct. 19.

Ben Simmons returned to the team last week after a contentious offseason in which he demanded a trade from Philadelphia. Despite coming to practice this past Sunday and Monday, Simmons was reportedly disengaged as he practiced with his phone in his pocket and skipped the team's huddle.

There are four years and $147 million left on Ben Simmons' contract.
