The Los Angeles Clippers and Paul George agreed to a new max contract that will guarantee the six-time All-Star as much as $226 million over the next five years.
The new max contract adds $190 million and four more years to the $35.4 million PG will make during the upcoming NBA season. George's agent, Aaron Mintz of CAA Sports, says the extension will replace the player option his client had for the 2021-2022 season. He added that the new contract includes a new player option for the 2024-2025 season.
After previously stating that he wanted to retire a Clipper, the contract extension will see the 30-year-old spend the rest of his prime with the franchise. The next step for the Clippers is resigning Kawhi Leonard, who could become a free agent after this upcoming season.
Paul George has averaged 20.0 points, 6.4 rebounds, 3.4 assists and 1.7 steals per game during his ten-year career.
