Paul George’s past season with the Los Angeles Clippers took a turn for the worst, as the team blew a 3-1 lead against the Denver Nuggets in the second round of the NBA Playoffs. Many fans and spectators blamed George’s performance for the let down. Since then, Shaq has even gone as far as saying if the Clippers want to win a title, they should trade George. Now, the star NBA player has made a major declaration ahead of the upcoming NBA season, saying he wants to retire on his current team.

While speaking to the Associated Press this past week, George said, “I’m my toughest critic. I know what’s not good, what’s unacceptable. Last year was an unacceptable year for me. I know that.” He continued on, saying, “I want to retire a Clipper… This is where my heart is and I’m happy.”

Along with that, George spoke on Doc Rivers being fired after the Clippers blew their 3-1 lead, saying, “I do want to clear it up because the notion out there is I don’t respect Doc and I’m putting the blame on Doc. I respect Doc. I think Doc is a helluva motivator and coach. It doesn’t mean I agree with everything that was done. They played harder than us and ultimately got past us.”
