Hopsin and Damien Ritter founded independent record label Funk Volume in 2009, launching the careers of Jarren Benton, Dizzy Wright, and SwizZz. However, financial disputes caused a dispute between the co-founders following a partnership with Warner Bros. Records.

Four years since Funk Volume was disbanded after Hopsin left and dropped a diss song aimed at Ritter, the two co-founders seem to have reunited after Damien Ritter posted a photo of the two on Instagram.

"In 2020…anything can happen," Ritter's caption read.

"Call it Black men growing up," Ritter told HipHopDX before claiming that more details on him and Hopsin's reunion would be revealed on an upcoming episode of his Music Entrepreneur Club Podcast.
