Hot 97's Ebro Darden came under fire for a tweet about Doja Cat amid allegations of making racist comments in the past. His tweet read, "Instead of canceling Doja Cat for having some weird fetish and identity issues. [Is it] possible to uplift her and show her that being Black is beautiful? I'm assuming she had no Black culture in her suburban wasteland and her white Mom couldn't help her. And chat rooms."
Ebro addressed the tweet on his morning show, stating, "I'm assuming she didn't have any Black culture in her suburban wasteland. Her white mom probably couldn't help her so she got some identity issues and you off in chatrooms, so clearly there's some—if you like being called the n-word...maybe she loves that? Maybe that turns her on or some weird thing? I didn't know what was going on. I didn't know what she was into. But clearly there was some sort of mental identity something."
After clarifying that he also has a white mother, Ebro then addressed Doja Cat's recent Instagram Live, where she addressed the allegations against her. Ebro stated that he felt Doja Cat was being "mean" in the video, adding, "Yo fam, you sound mad defensive. You got something you need to deal with."
