Doja Cat took to Instagram Live to address allegations of racist comments she made in the past, and she explained that while she recorded several edited versions of an apology at the advice of her team, she wanted to take to Live to talk about the situation with fans.
She went down the list of points being made against her, including a video of her speaking about her hair, which some people took as self-hate. Doja Cat explained that she was openly complaining about wearing wigs at the time, and she added that she loves herself and thinks she's beautiful.
Moving along, Doja Cat addressed her controversial song "Dindu Nuffin," which she denied is about police brutality and Sandra Bland. She then added that she thinks the song is horrible. Doja Cat went on to address other allegations against her, which you can hear in full above.

Doja Cat took to Instagram to apologize for offensive comments she made in the past that surfaced with the trending hashtag #DojaCatIsOverParty on Twitter over the weekend. Video footage of the singer in alt-right chat rooms and her old song "Dindu Nuffin," which is based on racist terminology, surfaced over the weekend, with many calling on Doja Cat to address the situation.
On Sunday (May 24), she wrote, "I want to address what’s been happening on Twitter. I've used public chat rooms to socialize since I was a child. I shouldn’t have been on some of those chat room sites, but I personally have never been involved in any racist conversations. I’m sorry to everyone I offended." Doja added, "I’m a black woman. Half of my family is black from South Africa and I’m very proud of where I come from."
She then addressed the "Dindu Nuffin" song, writing, "As for the old song that’s resurfaced, it was in no way tied to anything outside of my own personal experience. It was written in response to people who often used that term to hurt me. I made an attempt to flip its meaning, but recognize that it was a bad decision to use the term in my music."

Previously, Doja Cat faced backlash after video footage of her surfaced in racist alt-right chat rooms. Along with that, it was noted that a song title of hers—“Dindu Nuffin” is based on racist terminology. The phrase was used by KKK Grand Wizard David Duke. Now, an old tweet from Doja Cat surfaced, with the woman valuing being white over being black.
Doja Cat’s tweet said, “Thinking about being Black can make any sensible person depressed. Like just think about it, wouldn’t being White make soo much more sense. Life would have value.” Take a look at her remark above.
