According to reports, there has been a rising number of cases involving landlords allegedly asking for sexual favors from female tenants in exchange for rent.

U.S. Immigration attorney Kevin Block spoke on the matter and said: “I am concerned because reported incidents indicate a greater number of unreported incidents.” Block noted some landlords are asking for “other arrangements” when women who are occupying their apartments ask about rent. Some landlords have gone as far as asking women to send sexual pictures of themselves as well.

News of this comes after it was revealed that only 69% of Americans who rent were able to pay their rent on April 1, which stems from companies shutting down, as well as furloughs and layoffs due to the spread of the coronavirus.
