Update 10/31/2019 4:07pm:

The House took a vote on Thursday (October 31) to move forward with impeachment inquiry against Donald Trump. Speaker Nancy Pelosi made an impassioned floor speech where she stated, "What is at stake, in all of this, is nothing less than our democracy."

Only two Democrats, impeachment critic Rep. Jeff Van Drew of New Jersey, and Rep. Colin Peterson of Minnesota, of the 234 members didn't vote in favor of moving forward. Justin Amash, who left the Republican Party earlier this year, is the sole non-Democrat who has supported impeaching the president. Democrats have held steadfast that the latest vote is a move to establish a process for public hearings moving forward.

House Majority Leader Steny Hoyer told reporters Tuesday, "This is not an impeachment resolution. I don’t know what an impeachment resolution is. This is about process after we move out of the investigative phase, which we’ve been in, into a phase where we have public hearings. That’s what it is."

Recently, Nancy Pelosi made an announcement that impeachment proceedings against Trump would be happening, which has led to some interesting tweets and statements from Trump since then.

Now, it appears Trump has acknowledged that there are enough votes to get him impeached. While speaking to the press at the White House, Trump said Democrats “unfortunately have the votes” to impeached him but also noted that his fellow Republicans would acquit him and stop the effort to get him out of office. Trump said, “They've taken away our rights. They're all in line. Because even though many of them don't want to vote, they have no choice. They have to follow their leadership. And then we'll get it to the Senate, and we're going to win." Stay tuned for more details.
