Back in late January, Lakers guard Lonzo Ball suffered his third ankle injury of his young career, which ended his season and reportedly prompted team officials to ask him if the root of his problem 'could be the shoes.'

Ball recently spoke to ESPN where he offered this insight, saying "Yeah, they talked to me, they asked me about it, and I told 'em, I feel comfortable. If I wasn't comfortable, I wouldn't play in 'em." The second-year player then added that "If I didn't play in [my signature BBB shoes], I'd play in Kobe [Bryant's signature Nike shoe]," additionally noting that he works out in LeBron James' signatures Nike shoes simply "because they're heavier."

This statement comes only days after Ball reportedly cut ties with Big Baller Brand co-founder Alan Foster, as he cited concerns over an unaccounted for $1.5 million. "[Foster] used his access to my business and personal finances to enrich himself," Ball said to ESPN, while pointing out his criminal past of mail fraud and money laundering as he implicated him in the alleged embezzlement.

Around this time Ball also posted what appeared to be a Nike ad on IG with the caption that read "moving on to bigger and better," complete with the hashtag: "#MyOwnMan." The post was notably liked by LeBron James, who due to the Lakers underwhelming season will be missing out on the playoffs for the first time since 2005.
