Last night (Jan. 27) was the airing of the 25th Screen Actors Guild Awards, of which Black Panther received the top honor as the most "Outstanding Performance by a Cast in a Motion Picture." One of the main highlights of the show, however, was a moment from The Cosby Show's Geoffrey Owens, who appeared to have some fun with the viral Trader Joes moment that captivated the internet last year.

The broadcast started with it's traditional "I am an actor" segment, where following an introduction by actor Mike Myers, Owens took the moment to address the supposed controversy directly.

“Somewhere in the middle of the road of my life, I found myself in the dark wood of unemployment and debt," Owens said with a straight-face to the camera, "but instead of switching careers like a sane person, I took a job at a local Trader Joe’s to see if I could hang in there with my career and it’s actually worked out pretty well... I’m Geoffrey Owens and I’m an actor.”

For his dry humor and flawless delivery, Owens received a standing ovation, where meanwhile it appears that all the publicity of the Trader Joes story seems to have paid off. Since the viral moment, Owens has been offered roles on the upcoming thriller Fatale with Hilary Swank, Michael Ealy, and Mike Colter, the horror remake Hide and Seek alongside Jonathan Rhys Meyers, Jacinda Barrett, Joe Pantoliano, and Mustafa Shakir, in addition to a potential role in Tyler Perry's The Have and Have Nots. Furthermore, he's also recently appeared on an episode of NCIS: New Orleans

All the same, his employment with Trader Joes stimulated a conversation above anything else, while his latest statement appears to suggest that the celebrated actor has no regrets.
