With the public fallout that followed the Surviving R. Kelly docuseries on Lifetime, there are some people anticipating a similar result after the documentary Leaving Neverland about Michael Jackson airs on HBO. The film investigates Jackson's alleged sexual assault of young boys through the experiences of James Safechuck and Wade Robson, who claim to have been assaulted by Jackson when they seven and ten years old, respectively.

Since the news of HBO landing the documentary, which is set to premiere at the Sundance Film Festival later this month, the Michael Jackson estate has come forth to blast the network. From the official Michael Jackson Twitter page, the estate wrote: "In 1992, Michael gave HBO their highest rated special ever. Now, to repay him they give a voice to admitted liars." The tweet was accompanied by the poster of the Michael Jackson live TV concert on HBO that broke network viewing numbers.
