Amber Guyger, the Dallas police officer charged with manslaughter after killing 26-year-old Botham Jean claims that the man ignored her "verbal commands" prior to fatally shooting him according to a police affidavit.

A Texas Ranger, David Armstrong, wrote in Monday's affidavit that Guyger believed a burglar was inside her home after inserting her key in the door and opening the door which she noted was slightly ajar. Guyger then drew her handgun at which point she gave her verbal warnings and subsequently fired the two fatal shots.

Soon after Guyger called 911 requesting both an ambulance and police. When asked her location, Guyger said she checked outside and realized she was in the wrong apartment. Guyger said that the floorplans and exterior looked identical or "extremely similar."
