Update: Killer Mike has humbled himself on social media and issued a formal apology to television journalist Joy-Ann Reid for miscasting her as a hypocritical H&M supporter.

For much of the weekend, Reid had 'Black Twitter' in a frenzy over the way she clapped back at the Run The Jewels rapper for trying to expose her compliments to hairstylist Cynthia Moultrie and makeup artist Nicole Ganther as an endorsement of the disreputed retailer.

And here I was thinking you were an intellectual, and not just the guy who hangs out in the sunken place talking guns with the NRA’s ‘official black guy’ who literally changed his last name to ‘black,’” followers will recall the MSNBC host responding, upon learning that Mike had misconstrued her usage of the hair and makeup (H&M) acronym.

By Sunday morning, April 8, Mike would fold to the flood of criticism he was receiving for jumping the gun. "I got educated and I appreciated," he digressed, before going on to address Reid directly.

"To be unclear is to be unkind," Mike told Reid. "My apologies for my misunderstanding Joy Ann Reid and I hope we get that Black gun owner - minus the NRA - interview. Love and respect. Thanks for the correct."

Previously, Killer Mike sat down with the NRA for an interview that caused much controversy and even gained a response from Joy Ann Reid, which led to a back-and-forth between the two. Now, it seems the rapper is in her crosshairs again after he tried to check her on her IG page, but was swiftly corrected by the MSNBC show host.

Reid posted a photo of herself and others on IG with the caption “And not to be outdone.. @glamluxxe and Cynthia, who rocked the H&M for our Elgin Baylor shoot!” Killer Mike saw the comment and assumed she was talking about the clothing company H&M, which led him to comment “So me doing an interview about black gun ownership with the NRA is ‘bad’ but u promoting a company that tagged a black child a monkey is ‘good, cool, acceptable.’ Ok 👌🏾 check. Smh n***as……

Reid did not take too kindly to the comment and responded by explaining she that “H&M” on her post meant “hair and makeup,” and that she doubts the rapper could buy the blouse she has on at the chain retailer.

She then went on to say “And here I was thinking you were an intellectual, and not just the guy who hangs out in the sunken place talking guns with the NRA’s ‘official black guy’ who literally changed his last name to ‘black.’” Ouch.
