Killer Mike found himself in hot water last week when the NRA posted a clip of an interview he did with them online. In a smart, yet somewhat tacky marketing ploy, the NRA released a clip where Mike talks about his beliefs on parenting in connection with the gun conversation. They dropped the snippet on the same day the March For Our Lives rally took place. “I told my kids on the school walkout: ‘I love you—if you walk out that school, walk out my house,’” stated Mike in the snippet.

His statements caused a backlash, and Mike took to social media to apologize. He wasn't apologizing for his statements though, he was more concerned about the fact that the NRA used a piece of his interview to somewhat attack the idea of the march that was taking place at the same time.

NRATV shared the full interview this week, and Mike took to social media once again. This time, he promoted the interview, in which he states that black people shouldn't be against the NRA based on political beliefs. “I think that the worst thing African Americans have done in the last 60 years is marry ourselves to a political party and a political ideology," stated Mike in the interview.

This idea that because I’m a gun owner, or I’m hardcore about the Second Amendment, from that perspective, that doesn’t mean that I lack the empathy or the ability to sympathize," says Mike. "If anything, it’s quite the opposite. We disagree about how we both want to save these kids’ lives. Period! But, somehow, because my method doesn’t agree with your method, I’m a monster.”
