The popular disappearing image application, Snapchat recently fell under fire after posting an offensive ad mocking domestic abuse. The advertisement called “Would You Rather” asked users if they would rather slap Rihanna, or punch Chris Brown. The advertisement put a spotlight on the horrific event that transpired between Brown and Rihanna back in 2009.

Naturally, the ad quickly gained attention after users saw it. Rihanna took notice of the ad and posted a message on her Instagram about it. The famed singer wrote, "Now SNAPCHAT I know you already know you ain't my fav app out there! But I'm just trying to figure out what the point was with this mess!" the singer wrote. "I'd love to call it ignorance but I know you ain't that dumb. You spent money to animate something that would intentionally bring shame to DV victims and made a joke of it."

Rihanna’s word dealt a huge blow to Snapchat’s stock value dropping it by of $800 million yesterday Friday, March 1, 2018.

Snapchat responded to the advertise apologizing and saying that it happened in error. "We are investigating how that happened so that we can make sure it never happens again.”

Snapchat has been in hot water recently with fewer users engaging with the platform now that Instagram adopted some of its features. Recently, Kylie Jenner posted about the app that cost them $1.3 billion. Jenner posted, "Sooo does anyone else not open Snapchat anymore? Or is it just me... ugh this is so sad.”
